7) Ignazio Concetto Consolazione (Family of: Paolo3, Giovanni1) Born in 1847 in Sant' Elia, Sicily and died in 1918 in St' Elia. Married Marianna Grazia Mancino, daughter of Filippo Mancino and Marianna Sparacino, she was born August 16, 1857 in Santa Flavia, Sicily, she died June 4, 1947 in West Allis, Wi USA. Notes for Ignazio Concetto Consolazione: Paolo and Providenza Gumina had two children a girl named Angela and another girl named Nina. They wanted a boy so much that they decided to go to a near by orphanage to adopt a boy. Paolo wanted an older boy who could help him work the land. When getting to the orphanage and talking to the secretary they heard a baby crying constantly. The ask why and were told they had no milk for this new born only sugar water. At that time there were no bottles so the babies were feed by wet nurse. Providenza being a new mother could not bear to hear the baby cry so she picked him up and nursed him. Upon checking, to her delight this baby was a boy! Even though Paolo wanted an older boy he gave in to his wifes' plead to keep this baby. This baby was Concetto Consolazione who was then temporaily adopted by the Guminas as his mother died during his birth. A man from the orphanage came by about a month later to tell the Gumina's that they could keep the baby as the child's father was so grief stricken over the death of his wife that he lost his senses and kept banging his head against the stone walls of his house and died of his injuries. Now the Guminas were to return to the orphanage to sign the proper papers, but this they never did and no one from the orphanage never came back. The Guminas named this baby boy Ignazio Gumina after Paolo's father. The boy lived as Ignazio Gumina until he was drafted into the Italian Navy at the age of 30 and then for the first time, because the proper paper work was never done, he found out that he was adopted and that his real name was Concetto Consolazione and that is the name he would have to legally serve under for the next four years. So, after that and the duration of his life his legal name would Ignazio Concetto Consolazione. Years later we learned that he had two natural older brothers whom were also adopted after their fathers death. Giovanni and Guiseppi. Because we have no history prior to the adoption, the Guminas were then Ignazio Concetto parents and the family line from this point follows the Gumina's. We do know that there are other Consolazione's in Chicago and Rome. Grace Ellen Consolazione (Tilidetzke), Ignazio Concetto's grandaughter discovered the Consolazione family in Chicago. Upon returning home she told her parents, Paolo and Anna Consolazione of her discovery, they then called the Consolazione from Chicago and found out that the grandfather was adopted from the same orphanage in Sicily. It was ten determined that our grandfather and there grandfather were brothers and that we are cousins to the Chicago Consolazione ( some members of this family have changed their names to Colson, Consol, Conti. Years later my son Paul discovered, through the internet, more Consolazione's families in Rome Italy. My daughter Jane Pipia contacted these Consolazione's and found that their ancessory is very similar to ours, putting all the facts together it was determined that their grandfather ,Giovanni, and our grandfather, Ignazio Concetto were brothers since then we have stayed in touch through E-Mail.
